Deez Bagz are made in Vermontville, MI. As far as we know, we are currently the only CO2 bag made in the state. Our bags are inoculated with Blue Oyster mycelium, a naturally occurring mushroom.
The mycelium releases CO2 through a ventilation patch on the front of the bag during the decomposition of hardwood sawdust. This ventilation patch allows for the transfer of air, but its' pore size prevents the introduction of competitive spores that could cause contamination. If a contamination does occur, we will replace the bag as soon as possible, free of charge.
Blue Oyster mushrooms have a high CO2 output across their lifespan. We recommend one/two bags per light or one/two bags in a 4x4 grow space. Typically, one bag in a 4x4 grow tent will raise the CO2 level to about 1,000 ppm.
Deez Bagz are made to order and are delivered within about a week of inoculation to better ensure a longer lasting, quality product. The delivery is free. The lifespan of the blue oyster mycelium can range from 4 months to a year or more.
We don't like to put an expiration date on a living organism because it can vary. As long as the mycelium is alive, it is decomposing the sawdust and expiring CO2.
An added benefit of Deez Bagz is its ability to fruit gourmet mushrooms. If you've never tried sauteed oyster mushrooms before, we encourage you to do so. They are delicious! Since the blue oyster mycelium is happy within its' environment, it will attempt to grow mushrooms inside the bag continuously. However, this should not be a concern to the grower because the mushroom will be unable to fully mature due to the high CO2 level within the bag. The high CO2 level will cause the mushrooms to appear 'squid like' or like 'coral'.
After this, the mycelium will simply eat itself and continue to decompose the sawdust. After 6 months to a year, the bag will have noticeably lost weight due to the decomposition process. At this time, we recommend growers purchase new bags and compost the contents of the bag.
